You’ve been asked to lead others within your organization. This is a golden opportunity to change business results as well as the lives and careers of those you now lead. If you’re like many people, there’s a moment not too far into the new job when you realize that many of the skills that made you successful don’t apply here. It’s a lot like being a master electrician one day and then suddenly becoming the general contractor. Your success now depends on the success of other people. On top of that, you now have hiring, firing, recruiting, business planning, forecasting, goal setting, management meetings, oversight responsibilities, and a hundred new decisions to make. - Setting new priorities. You have no shortage of tasks to focus on. Only a few of them truly drive results but all of them seem important to somebody. We will help you identify and focus on the things that are most valuable to the business, your team and your career.
- Creating your engagement plan. You’re team will quickly size you up and either give you a chance to coach them or dismiss you and resort to compliance instead of commitment. - Setting and achieving goals. Much of your success will be linked to directly setting, or helping others to set, goals and targets. Then as the team moves forward, you have to help them make small corrections in their behaviors early so a reasonable goal doesn’t turn into a hopeless long shot.
